New advances in fish sauce….

“A rock pile ceases to be a rock pile the moment a single man contemplates it,

bearing within him the image of a cathedral.”

~~ Antoine de Saint-Exupery ~~

Or not. I haven’t decided yet. But, it looks good there, doesn’t it? I’m always looking for an opening that will draw ffolkes, or even folks, in to read. Reading is good. We all know this, but, here at ECR, we live y that rule of thumb, (or would it be a rule of law? No, too silly, even for me…), so, we try to provide the finest in adult entertainment, as provided by our charter. Or, what we remember of the charter…. One of these days, I’ll find the damn thing, and we’ll be able to find out what it really says….

Of course, that will be the same day Satan breaks out his ice skates, so, it may be a while. Tell you what…. When I get the notice, I’ll send out a group text, to let y’all in on it…. Of course, all of you who wish to be notified will need to furnish me with you phone numbers, your full name as it appears on your bill, and, of course, the routing and account numbers for your bank accounts…. Send those along, and all will be fine…. If you need any further info, you can wire me care of the American Embassy in Pago Pago….

What do you think? Enough nonsense for one day? I can keep this up for a long time, if necessary. Of course, that only applies on alternate Wednesdays, and today is Friday, I think…. Yep, I just checked. So, it won’t be any real problem for any of us, provided reality stays in this particular incarnation for a day or two. I’m not sure what the schedule says, so we’ll go with that, and be happy…. Or, clueless, which amounts to the same thing for most folks…. Ffolkes, naturally, never fall into those types of traps, so, y’all should be fine….

Wow, the crap is flowing out now, isn’t it? I’m not sure where this outpouring of BS is coming from, but, it’s probably a good thing it’s coming out…. To look at it, I can definitely say, with a high degree of confidence, in this case, better out than in…. In fact, so much better, I’ll leave it at that, and officially close this intro with a ruthless bang…. Watch me closely, or you’ll miss it….

Shall we Pearl?

“I know who I am. Sometimes you go away, but I’m still here.” — gigoid, in one of his more lucid moments…

All of us, in growing up, are affected by the music we hear, and by the artists who give us the music. At a certain point, we decide who our favorites are, according to our tastes; it may be somewhat revealing, but, this woman was one of my first musical favorites, back in the 50’s when I was growing up…. It didn’t hurt that she was also one of the most beautiful women alive at the time….

See, I told you it’s revealing, and what is revealed here is that, like most males, I was a dog…. A nice dog, but, nonetheless smelly when wet, for all that…. She’s a great jazz singer, though, so, I feel as if my initial liking, though perhaps not based entirely on my musical tastes, were still accurate as to quality…. If you have any heart & soul at all, you’ll like her music….

Peggy Lee – Rendezvous with Peggy Lee [Album]

“I know of no safe depository of the ultimate powers of society but the people themselves; and if we think them not enlightened enough to exercise their control with a wholesome discretion, the remedy is not to take it from them, but to inform their discretion by education.” — Thomas Jefferson, letter to William Charles Jarvis, 1820

There are many in our society who believe in keeping the populace ignorant of the truth; most of them are either in an elected national office, or at the helm of a large multi-national corporation. Fortunately, the internet exists, and has given those among us who DO believe in keeping the populace educated new opportunities to provide our fellow citizens with the Truth about reality, and those in life who would have us believe we have no rights, nor any reason to wish for any….

I’m one of them, and so is Lou, the blogger who runs the site where you will find the following information, which is vital in today’s burgeoning police state….. Pay attention, ffolkes…. This is all stuff everyone needs to know, so put it in YOUR head, and pass it on so others may do the same…. The tips were furnished by a veteran police officer, one who happens to believe in the same principles as Thomas Jefferson….

Ten Rules for dealing with Police:

1. Always be calm and cool: a bad attitude guarantees a bad outcome.

2. Remain silent: what you don’t say can’t hurt you.

3. You have the right to refuse searches: saying no to searches can’t be held against you.

4. Don’t get tricked: remember, police are allowed to lie to you.

5. Determine if you’re free to go: police need evidence to detain you.

6. Don’t expose yourself: doing dumb stuff in public makes you an easy target.

7. Don’t run: they’ll catch you and make you regret it.

8. Never touch a cop: aggressive actions will only earn you a more aggressive response.

9. Report misconduct: be a good witness.

10. You don’t have to let them in: police need a warrant to enter your home.

Remember, ffolkes…. You only have those rights you can protect, and only if you use them. Be brave, be smart, be strong, and be free….

“You’re not supposed to be so blind with patriotism that you can’t face reality. Wrong is wrong, no matter who says it.” — Malcolm X

Some days, I just like to taste something a little different; here is one from a classical poet of some renown…. You may have heard of him….

A Character

I marvel how Nature could ever find space
For so many strange contrasts in one human face:
There’s thought and no thought, and there’s paleness and bloom
And bustle and sluggishness, pleasure and gloom.

There’s weakness, and strength both redundant and vain;
Such strength as, if ever affliction and pain
Could pierce through a temper that’s soft to disease,
Would be rational peace–a philosopher’s ease.

There’s indifference, alike when he fails or succeeds,
And attention full ten times as much as there needs;
Pride where there’s no envy, there’s so much of joy;
And mildness, and spirit both forward and coy.

There’s freedom, and sometimes a diffident stare
Of shame scarcely seeming to know that she’s there,
There’s virtue, the title it surely may claim,
Yet wants heaven knows what to be worthy the name.

This picture from nature may seem to depart,
Yet the Man would at once run away with your heart;
And I for five centuries right gladly would be
Such an odd such a kind happy creature as he.

This final, old school pearl is one of those which, sort of, wrote itself. I was cruising through SB, just seeing what was there to see, when these seven stars popped up, insisting on being included. By the time all of them were in place, they only required moving two of them to bring the whole pearl into the proper perspective, which I am sure you will see right away…. It’s a pretty clear statement on life, and our place in the scheme of things…. Well, it says that to me…. Y’all may find something else entirely…. but, it’s there, and all of it is good stuff to know, ultimately. That’s the final test for me….

“It’s like brother Nietzsche said–being human is a complicated gig, so give that dark night of the soul a hug and howl the eternal yes.” — Chris, the local radio jock from Northern Lights

“With some people we spend our time, with others we invest it.” — Smart Bee

“A good man possesses a kingdom.” — Seneca (8 BC) — Thyestes, 380

“A coward is much more exposed to quarrels than a man of spirit.” — Thomas Jefferson (1743-1826)

“Virtue is a kind of health, beauty and good habit of the soul.” — Plato (B.C. 427?-347?)

“The happiness and unhappiness of the rational, social animal depends not on what he feels but on what he does; just as his virtue and vice consist not in feeling but in doing.” — Marcus Aurelius Antoninus (121-180 AD) — Meditations, ix, 16

And bear unmov’d the wrongs of base mankind,
The last and hardest conquest of the mind.

This is one of those Pearls at which I’ll never again look, as I know just how little I actually had to do with it…. All I had to do today was decide where it all went, and how much to comment around the edges…. Well, and the intro, but, after looking at it, I have absolutely no comment, other than to note I’m glad to be done…. That statement, in itself, tells much of the story…. Ah well, so much for one day…. tomorrow, we get another chance, and that’s all I ask for….. See y’all then, ffolkes, with a bit of luck….

Y’all take care out there,
and May the Metaphorse be with you;
Blessed Be, dearest  Carole, Mark, and Theresa…
and everyone else, too…

When I works, I works hard.
When I sits, I sits loose.
When I thinks, I falls asleep.

Which is Why….

Sometimes I sits and thinks,
   and sometimes,
I just sits.

  1. Sorry, ffolkes, but, TV has never been my gig… It was Chris, the DJ on the show “Northern Exposure”…. I think… Hell, I don’t know, I just like the quote….

    gigoid, the dubious, but committed to truth…

    • In the further pursuit of truth, the above line which now reads,

      “Blessed Be, dearest Carole, Mark, and Theresa…”, is now supposed to read,

      “Blessed Be, dearest Carole, Mark, Theresa, and Richy…”

  2. Oh, fuck! (Which is exactly what I said when I found it…) In the first paragraph, it should be “by”, not “y”….

    Honk! As usual, I didn’t even see the nose grow!….

      • ROFL (see big belly bouncing….) (well, not so big as it was, and disappearing fast…but, still jiggly…)

        You’d be right about that… however, the WP edit page makes changes without telling me, so I gave up on it. What goes up first time stays up…

        In the past, every time I’ve tried to edit a page I’ve already posted, it drops spaces, or changes the justification, in several points in the document, and my knowledge of the code isn’t sufficient to catch it when it does… I make a change, then re-post, and it’s all moved around from where it started, without any input from me; more attempts to re-edit just makes it worse…. So, I proof as well as I can at the start, and then just let it go…

        SIGH, which eats at my sense of perfectionism…. Oh well, we all have disappointments in life; for me, that’s one of them…

        🙂 On the bright side, I like to gamble, so it feeds right in to that… Well, not gamble. I like poker, but, the way I play, it’s not gambling, just mathematics…and learning tells…

        Thanks fer droppin’ by… Been hiding all day…

        See ya… WCLT

        • If you care to cheat, I can tell you how to overcome the alternative editing. What I hate is coming back years later, knowing I edited the stinking thing already and finding one of those typos no one really noticed which changes one word into another, thereby changing the entire meaning. *le sigh* Perfectionism does have its disadvantages, particularly accidental endorsement.

          Not so much hiding as too busy to concentrate.

  3. Doh! Maybe that’s my problem… In the past three plus years, I’ve beaten the letters off this keyboard, and five of the keys actually have grooves in them from my fingers… It’s probably about ready to give up the ghost altogether, & refuse to type anything other than the top row… I’ll have to learn to write code…

    • Duh! I forgot to add what I was referring to: “A coward is much more exposed to quarrels than a man of spirit.” — Thomas Jefferson

      • Lou,

        Thanks, the intro today was fun, so I’m glad you enjoyed it…. and, yes, Tom was a very deep guy, I have found… You’d appreciate his take on Christianity, etc…

        The Zen music from YT is excellent; in fact, I’ll use it tomorrow for the video section. I should start listing you as a major contributor; I’ve used four or five of your posts of late as pearls of one sort or another, either videos or rants…

        Thanks for that, too… I’m glad I’ve had enough time free from pain to get over to your site more often; I missed the sense of absurdity in society you highlight so well… & it’s nice to be back in touch…

        see ya around the Net, bro…
