Faith is apathy of the mind….

Ffolkes,

At least I thought I was dancing, ’til somebody stepped on my hand.

Hajime…. Generally, I don’t make any attempt to connect the opening quote to anything below; that space is for a general concept to lead into the day. Today’s selection, as it turned out, matches perfectly with my current state of mind, so, serendipity strikes again….. The past couple weeks have been a trial for me, in at least two senses. I suspect it is the barometer’s up & down dance over that time that is causing the greater part of the pain I’ve been experiencing, as the weather does it’s spring thing. Since that pain has been so ubiquitous, my PTSD decides to chime in, threatening to send me into the abyss that ever waits on the edges of my perception, down into the dark hole of my mind, where nothing seems to have any color, or life…..

Since I also have reality to deal with, which currently involves planning a trip, executing it, and maintaining the rest of my life simultaneously, time becomes an enemy, as my mind wanders in lost corridors, and things don’t get done. For one who prefers to live with some dignity and direction, it only adds weight to that which must be carried while climbing out of the abyss. The upshot of this, at least here on WP, is that my writing suffers from stultification, and, I don’t go out online to visit all those sites I like to follow, to provide the mental stimulation my mind craves. For this part, I can apologize, and say, have patience with me, as I will eventually make it by to comment, and interact.

All that said, in apology, and in hopes of climbing another step up the wall, I’ll try to put together a Pearl, which will, no doubt, get posted late, but, done. It won’t be too fresh, but, we’ll do what we can. In order to give myself the time to do so, we’ll forgo any fooling around here, and be on our way, post haste….. In fact, we’ll go right now. Watch this….

Shall we Pearl?….

“‘Tis the voice of the Lobster: I heard him declare
“You have baked me too brown, I must sugar my hair.”
As a duck with its eyelids, so he with his nose
Trims his belt and his buttons, and turns out his toes.
When the sands are all dry, he is gay as a lark,
And will talk in contemptuous tones of the Shark:
But, when the tide rises and sharks are around,
His voice has a timid and tremulous sound.”

Yep, you guessed it. The intro should have been enough to tell you we’d be going default today. But, don’t worry, even if you missed it, you can still enjoy the music…. Abondanza!…

Dont keep calm

As noted above, there isn’t anything in my head worth putting on paper, or screen. Instead, here is a collection of pearls I’ve been putting together for a rant, which, taken by themselves, work fairly well to lead one on their own private rant, in their heads. Just follow the bouncing ideas, to the obvious conclusion you find at the end…. Or, just laugh along at the Asininnies, as we take our best shots…..

Dead Hands,Typing…

Puzzled anew by anomalous blocks of pain
caught, bemused, chained to routine, insane.
Stilled within breathless beauty
Engaging epiphany, insistent, called to duty.

Knees bent in lieu of a faithful rendition
suffuses, confuses, locked into stale perdition.
Clearing corrosion with hands encased in stone
Singular frozen follicles, masked by bone.

Partial focus brings unfiltered flavors to light
coloring each particle in simple delight.
Forlorn, novel conceptual artists singing in tune
nine notes in harmony, soft as the moon.

Honed blades of carbon steel flash in rhyme,
filling sensual receptors well past closing time.
Borrowed from neighbors in a week-old game
still bloody, without a proper name.

No flooded memories can justify such cost
no simple stationery, bilious, afraid, lost.
Ten times ten will never be enough
To fill so empty a stolen trough.

Bartering simplicity takes well into the night
solidly temporary pillars turned bright.
Unknown to all the pretty children who came
none were called, none had any remaining flame.

Well…. I’m pretty sure it’s done; I’ll check, but, it feels okay; today, that will have to do. I can’t say if I will get around to visiting other sites today; I am still teetering on the edge, and have a lot to do to prepare for my upcoming trip. If I don’t please know I will return, and I’m not ignoring anyone; just gotta do what must be done. I will, for the sake of my own sanity, try again tomorrow to put a Pearl together, hopefully with less trouble and effort than was required today. Regardless, I’ll be back…. and, sorry for parroting a bad actor. See y’all tomorrow, ffolkes; odds remain good….

  1. Today I have little tolerance for mindless rhetoric of the “Right”….so I am trying to insulate myself from it…..the music is lovely and soothing….I needed that today…..I would revise the Simon and Garfunkel with “words of the prophets are written on shit house walls”….”.Experience is the only prophecy of wise men”. Or “Prophecy, however honest, is generally a poor substitute for experience.” I am in my intellectual mode today….LOL chuq

    • Glad you are; the world needs as many intellectuals as we can find…. Plus, I picked the music with you in mind, as it was listed as primarily Chopin music…

I’m pretty insular today, as well, as noted above…. I’ll be by, though….

Have a good intellectual day, mon ami….

    ” Mere intellectualism,mere philosophy,produces monsters”
Faith is apathy of the mind….
    Define faith…
    I have faith in myself…..
That is the meaning of ‘faith’
It is not ‘out there’ It is ‘inside ‘here’
Religion is the study & practice of perfection…
“Be Ye perfect, even as your Father in heaven is perfect’
That should set to annoy ye of little ‘faith’
    Hahaha.. 😉
    Good Post!

    • Normally, my titles don’t mean anything; when they do, it’s usually accidental, such as this one…. However, I would stand by this as an aphorism, as I fully opine ‘faith’ to be more destructive than helpful to humans. Faith means you believe, and belief is the death of wisdom, for it means you will no longer question that belief. Doubt is the beginning of wisdom, not the end. To have faith, to me, implies one has given up thinking, in favor of abnegation of self-responsibility…… Not a good thing, in my mind….

And, religion is the study and practice of delusional material. Of course it’s perfect; it came out of the imagination, and thus does not have to submit to the demands of reality….

      So there….

  4. Too much intellectual activity dries up a ‘man’
‘And, religion is the study and practice of delusional material. Of course it’s perfect; it came out of the imagination, and thus does not have to submit to the demands of reality’….
I do not read delusional material….I do not theorize…
Your above statement simply means you have not read or needed to experience the teachings…..
listen to what J.Campbell is teaching ……read the Gnostics….we do not reach our potential through rationalizing…..the demands of ‘reality’ are our greatest teachers. …. within religion, hidden in the darkest corners is a great deal of spirituality…..if you can understand the ‘language’…most do not.
Simply leave the word religion behind…..and insert another….
“The Kingdom of the father is spread out
    over the earth
and men do not see it”

    • Why do we HAVE to have a father? I don’t get it, nor do I see any evidence of it….

      Simple as that for me.

Then, there is also the ‘father’ thing… why must it be male? Such an assumption makes even less sense to me….

Though I haven’t read the Gnostic gospels, other than in passing, i have read Campbell, who is quite perspicacious, but, in my estimation, tends to go overboard with the spirituality concept; spirit isn’t ALL there is.

I prefer Bertrand Russell to either….

I know you don’t engage in delusions, but, then, nobody who has one believes it is one; that’s the nature of the beast. And, everybody theorizes, which is just another word for imagination.

You are right in that reality is our greatest teacher; I would add it is also the most honest teacher we have, as long as we don’t color it with our own preconceived notions of it. But, I would argue that the gospels of the Gnostics are rationalizations, based on their need to have a ‘father’ figure, instead of facing reality as it is, without the necessity of finding someone to attribute it all to.

You can’t see the Kingdom of the father because it isn’t there…. Not everything we don’t see exists, you know…. Our not seeing it does not prove its existence.

      gigoid, the dubious

      • Why are you hung up over ‘Father’
Man used to be considered a word that included men and women…check it out…you also have to read the kingdom of the father in another way….stop being tiresome..grin
It is beyond the gender issue.
Patriarchy and Matriarchy is not where it is at!

        • Okay, no problem; that whole gender thing was always a big part of my objection. But, that doesn’t address the issue of “creator”. I still don’t see any evidence in reality of such, no matter how many metaphorical substitutions may be used. The universe just is, as it is, and doesn’t need, or require, our interpretation of any of it. That is merely our ego getting in the way of truly experiencing it, by complicating what should be simple.

I do it, you do it, we all do it, and THAT is what we need to get past.

I forget just now which Oriental philosopher said this but, I believe it to be pretty true, and, I think you do as well… “Gods were invented by man; therefore the proper study is not the nature of God, but of the nature of Man.” (no gender implied) (*smile*)

It’s our nature to complicate matters; sadly, some of us complicate matters for all of us.

Hopefully, my passion won’t be too tiresome….this time.

          *grinning wink*

    Ffolkes,

Yesterday got blown off due to Too Much Birthday syndrome; then I got tagged for backup babysitting duties for the next couple days, which generally precludes enough time to compose Pearls… So be it. I’ll be back in a day or two, whenever I find the time to write. Here’s a Pearl from a bit over a year & a half ago; it stimulated quite a few comments, from a number of ffolkes. I hope you enjoy it, & I’ll see ya soon….
