A man and his shadow….
Hajime…. We begin today with a statement from one of my all-time favorite Georges….
“I am of the opinion that my life belongs to the community,
and as long as I live, it is my privilege to do for it whatever I can.
I want to be thoroughly used up when I die,
for the harder I work the more I live.
Life is no ‘brief candle’ to me.
It is a sort of splendid torch which I have got hold of for a moment,
and I want to make it burn as brightly as possible
before handing it on to future generations.”
~~ George Bernard Shaw ~~
I was going to write a short, pithy piece with this as the starting point, but, babysitting duties have assumed precedence for today. I managed to get it done, but, unless I completely eradicate all surplus verbiage, I’ll never get it posted. Since I promised to do so, here ’tis, such as it is… I hope you enjoy this abbreviated version of an actual Pearl. I’ll flesh out the next one better, I swear. For now, this will have to do, for an intro, and for a Pearl…. Let’s get right to that….
Shall we Pearl?….
“One idea spoken truly, even in a cave, can change the world.”

I feel like rock ‘n rolling today; as a baby sitter, I’ll need the energy…. If you like music, and especially when played by a master musician, then, you’ll like this…. Enjoy

Because I could not stop for Death —
He kindly stopped for me —
The Carriage held but just Ourselves —
And Immortality.
We slowly drove — He knew no haste
And I had put away
My labor and my leisure too,
For His Civility —
We passed the School, where Children strove
At Recess — in the Ring —
We passed the Fields of Gazing Grain —
We passed the Setting Sun —
Or rather — He passed Us —
The Dews drew quivering and Chill —
For only Gossamer, my Gown —
My Tippet — only Tulle —
We paused before a House that seemed
A Swelling of the Ground —
The Roof was scarcely visible —
The Cornice — in the Ground —
Since then — ’tis Centuries — and yet
Feels shorter than the Day
I first surmised the Horses’ Heads
Were toward Eternity —
~~ Emily Dickinson ~~

Okay, it’s done, Zoe will be here soon, & this needs to be posted before that, so, let’s see if I can get that done. I shall see y’all in a day or two, when I’ve recovered, and can cobble together some more words. Until then, be well, and happy as you may. And, damn it, stay cool….
Y’all take care out there,
and May the Metaphorse be with you;
Blessed Be, dearest Carole, Mark,Theresa, & Richy
and everyone else, too…
When I works, I works hard.
When I sits, I sits loose.
When I thinks, I falls asleep.
Which is Why….
Sometimes I sits and thinks,
and sometimes,
I just sits.

Here’s hoping the recovery goes well… I’m sure it will be worth it..!?!? 🙂
