Scenes from a train

Willamette River, Oregon

Yesterday, I got distracted by various spirea, (not really shrubs; it’s just a beautiful word, & works well as a metaphor…), a not unusual happenstance for me. In this case, it only means I once again didn’t finish the exposition upon which I’ve been working. In the normal way, this has telescoped through time to this morning, with yet another minor alteration in the content for today’s mess, which we laughingly call a blog. I did manage to piece together a pretty good, if somewhat incomplete Pearl, so, I suppose that’s something, and, better than any of the alternatives I can think of….

In order to maintain any possible remaining chances at dignity, I suggest we forgo any of my usual pathetic attempts at humor, & move on. I DID manage to remember the final pearl for this section, missing since my return to an on line presence. I imagine nobody but me even noticed, but, hopefully, you will now. With that said, to little purpose beyond taking up a bit more space, we will now exercise the discipline we have on hand, loose as it is….

Shall we Pearl?

Premises, premises….

Tricked, I stumble, and I fall
dreaming, through an abandoned palace.
Frightened and wary, unheard my call
fading into memory, no cup, no argent chalice.

The people, crushed, cry out to be freed
asking only to take part, or travel.
Nascent oaths spotlight such bursting need
fed by treachery, deep from our well.

Only the wicked shall find their way blocked
justice seeks them, snug in their hole.
Faint praises never touched, but naked, stalked
singing no gospel, no soul, no rock and roll.

Only the promised will remember the way
from unforgiven trails of sorrow.
To live life, and give death no sway,
saving grace for our only tomorrow.

Day 5 023

The Shelbourne Public House, Cork, Ireland….

The past few days, since acquiring Bob (my new computer), have been a blur of ‘flow’, while I navigate the learning curve for a new O/S, and go about rebuilding my pile of resources for writing this blog (pictures, quote databases, templates, ad nauseam….). While mostly fun, it has its drawbacks, some of which are connected to the re-establishment of the necessary routines to manage time, and to my need for exercise (away from this chair); I’m not going back to my former degree of ill-health. For the preponderance of time, however, the challenges and distractive nature of intellectual endeavor have provided me with what my Irish friends/ancestors might call ‘grand craic’, or, in American slang, a helluva a good time….

So far, my only disappointment has been the time NOT spent writing down my own thoughts & feelings; I’ve begun two discussions, but, both have been handicapped by the time needed simply to figure out how this damn computer works with the new O/S. I guess complaining about it won’t get them done, so, rather than go any further down that road, I’ll just say this: it’s in the works, but, without deadline. For now, I am content to cobble together these Pearls minus the bonus of my own blather. And, please, no raspberries from the cheap seats; this isn’t an excuse, because there’s no mandate; it’s just a filler, so the intro doesn’t appear too anemic.

Now I’ve pulled my own covers, let’s just go on to what we’ve got today, without any attempts to justify, or excuse the content, or lack thereof. In short….

Shall we Pearl?

A dream, weeping….

“Never a dull moment to spare”, he said
with a crooked grin, and a broad wink.
“Can’t keep Reality hanging by a thread….
what would Chaos, or Entropy think?”

So, we plucked up our dreams of old,
to carry us on, in dutiful, strong arms,
stuffed a candle in the remaining fold,
for luck, and perfect proof against charms.

Storms follow the sun, but, never stay;
lessons round every corner, all free.
Past fleeting doubts, in a sad disarray,
the journey becomes the reason to be.

Simple kindness manifests untold riches,
in defiance of common cause’s demise.
Bold courage, hanging in stitches,
mends wounds that come as no surprise.

Still, waters run deep, ’tis said by many.
Too much pain cannot apprehend
the salient, sharp points of epiphany,
nor, plainly, to wisdom aspire to pretend.

Folly dogs even the simplest truth,
fumes of toxic ignorance and bile,
alienated as a loose rotten tooth;
it often hides itself, for a long while.

Sought after eons ago, we cried out,
to believe, to suffer no more doubt.
But found instead good reason,
for love, and truth, from season, to season.

Whites Tavern 1630

White’s Tavern, Belfast, Ireland est. 1630 a.d….

Just a few moments ago, I was gifted with a bit of bitter ironic humor, directed, naturally, at myself. I had to laugh at me for having the following thought, to wit: “Discipline used to be easier….” Bwahahahaha! It is only when I reach this degree of stupid the true bozoid nature of reality becomes clear, and my temporary insanity pops like the bubble it is.

Discipline isn’t supposed to be easy, whether it’s for one’s self, or for another. If it were easy, everybody would be able to do it, for everybody prefers ‘easy’ to ‘hard’…. which, of course, is a complete denial of reality, where we find the hard way is ALWAYS the easy way, and, vice versa…..

Now, in the past, I might use such an event as the basis for a rant/discussion about human nature…. but, I’m not really in a mood to dissect such a complex subject into discussable parts (yes, I just made up another word; sue me….), so, instead, I’ll go on to the next section, then beyond, with no more concern for propriety than I’ve ever shown. Not only that, but, if you wish to wade through this mess to the end, you have to choice but to come along for the ride, such as it is. You see, this is all I could come up with for this section. S’okay, though, the remaining three came out just fine. You’ll see….

Platitudes for Attitudes

Platitudes shake us, attitudes break us.
Life can be a real pain, y’know?
Still, if we don’t fight where it takes us,
it’s a pretty straight row to hoe..

A lot of what we see and hear
isn’t always in the best of taste.
Life at large can be one long frisson of fear.
Making an effort often seems a huge waste.

Pundits, dogma dogs, myrmidons, oligarchs & pimps;
assholes and predators every one.
Twisted, sick, anti-humans; anomalous, ignorant wimps.
Logic says, every time, lobotomize ’em, & be done.

Illusions, delusions, confusions, a dedicated data dump,
bilious, divisive, spicy with hatred and fears.
Inflation, immigration, promises from the clownish Trump
Leaving even our basest survival heavy with tears.

Ancient sages left signs on the path to peace,
for those with wit to see.
No need for undue effort, no quest for golden fleece.
All we ever need to do, is be.

Leelu in repose

Leelu Magicat in repose….

In past incarnations of ECR, changes occurred, though not always accompanied by announcements; this time, I think the first change may have already been noted, & ignored (rightly so), by anyone familiar with how it generally goes here. To wit: no more ‘Hajime’ to begin the intro section. No big deal, or compelling reason; it’s simply the result of having lost my template along with my computer, & forgot to include it in the first posts. So be it; there’s no turning back now. We’ll all just have to learn to take things the way they are, which, I suppose, is good advice anytime, as long as one doesn’t get too serious about it, or too easygoing, leading to becoming a victim to manipulation. On that admittedly confusing note, let’s move on….

The time I’ve spent away from the on line community here on WP has been, for the most part, well-spent, at least in terms of health and well-being, if not time and circumstance. My weight is on track to get down to my high school fighting level, though without concomitant stamina & conditioning; all sorts of physical issues caused by obesity are now in control, if not fully eradicated. All I can say on that is, thank GOD I stopped listening to doctors & re-assumed responsibility for my OWN condition. A recent event serves as good example; I experienced a strain/tear to the intercostal tissue between two ribs, caused by an unexpected hard cough while asleep; I awoke @ 4 a.m., feeling exactly as if I’d been kicked in the rib by a small, but angry horse. If you’ve ever broken a rib, you know what it feels like…..

Rather than go the ER for treatment, (having experienced the same issue years ago), I diagnosed myself, & instituted what I know to be the proper treatment, to wit, rest, cold & warm compresses to the area as needed, and patience. This is working fine, & healing is progressing satisfactorily, & I saved a BUNCH of money & time by NOT letting the medicos & insurance moguls get involved…. Bonus! Much of my health improvement is occurring in the same vein; the more I ignore what they want, & I do what I know to be ‘right living’, the better I feel.

Well enough about me…. Let’s leave further explorations into my twisted mind for now, & get on with today’s mess; perhaps I can last long enough at the computer today to get a few more sites visited, to let ffolkes know I’m still around. We’ll employ an old method that has always worked well…. Well, well enough for OUR purposes, anyway. It’s simple, effective, & looks like this….

Shall we Pearl?

I’ve heard that tune before.
Always seemed out of tune anyway;

Leelu Magicat, Daughter of Bastet, at her ease…

Hajime…. In my battle to regain a modicum of composure, intellectually, at least, I managed to cobble together a pretty interesting Pearl. It’s a bit longer than usual, but, only because I cheated in the final, old-school section, by using the entire Pearl of Virtual Wisdom as posted on 10/15/2011, only a couple months after beginning here on WP. All in all, I’m content, if not entirely happy, with what occurred; under the given circumstances, it’s the best I can do…. which is yet another situation where “So be it….” becomes appropriate….

To make the transition, from standard reality to mine, a bit smoother, I think a strong display of will power is in order; applying it to an efficient trimming of this introductory section may enhance today’s overall reading experience, enough to make it more palatable than otherwise may be the case. Of course, this presupposes it is edible, or potable, in the first place, but, we’ve been known to make unwarranted assumptions previously, & can’t be expected to change overnight, & most especially, on command. We can, however, be expected to back up those assumptions with a bit of proof. Now, if we could only find some, all would be well. Since we cannot, our only possible alternative is to completely ignore it all, & go on as if nothing at all has taken place…

Mostly, you’ll note, it hasn’t. Let’s see if we can’t find something a bit more entertaining, if no more compellingly ridiculous. We’re getting pretty close to complete absurdity, as I retreat further & further from true reality, hoping to find surcease, if not redemption, in a magnificent display of madness, which, given our predilection for such displays on short notice, might have been possible, had it not been for your alert reaction. Go figure, eh?….

Now, then…. If you aren’t completely confused, well, then, so am I. Let’s see what other madness we can generate….

Shall we Pearl?….

In 2011, this young man, then 16 years of age, walked onto a stage in Australia, as an entrant in the Australia’s Got Talent TV show. He proceeded to play the piano, but, with a slight twist. He made his song up on the spot, improvising it as he played, expressing how he felt at that moment…. He went on to win that competition, with his second and third improvised songs, (each better than the last….), and now plays all over the world.

Follow the link in the player to his You Tube page, where you can find any number of great videos showing him play, in his unique style, every note improvised. Somebody DID eventually teach him to play standard music, (I suspect he can play anything he hears once, though I haven’t looked into that talent in his case); I watched a clip of him making up a blues/boogie-woogie song about 5 minutes long, which was, without doubt, the most incredible piano work I’ve EVER seen or heard…. Illusory Time

Viewed from askance, the river is long;
deep, uncompromisingly intent, swift and strong.
In duality, perception creates our only reality;
such faux metaphoric paradox enforces mutability.

By two we perceive, both zero, and one;
digital, binary, on or off, such fun.
Separate, melded, we exist, knowing not what we know
ego, striving to be solitary, looking above, seeing below.

Furiously asleep, cultural anomaly claims a victim of choice;
validly unconscious, nobody speaks, nary a voice.
Potential escapees stir in dreams, fighting to wake,
until taking the wheel, for their own bloody sake.

Pots boil in due time, when the fire’s hot,
time exists to our advantage; or, not.
The solitary warrior, head bent in pain,
fights on, with, or without gain.

Night fell, day after day it persisted;
of those who knew, none showed any care, or resisted
Angels, ministers, none had any defense, nor grace;
all that remains is a face.

An Ancient Pearl

From 10/15/2011….

Ffolkes,

The Sun, life-giving orb of light and warmth, which dies each night, is born again each morning, gloriously aflame with potential. As the world turns in slow majesty, a scene of aching beauty is revealed; small plants and trees stretching their leaves toward the source of warmth, creatures great and small moving over the land, greeting the day with energy and purpose, colorful birds arcing and swooping through the warming air.

With a look at each other, the two young boys grinned, and with a cry of pure joy, took off running toward a nearby stand of trees. Legs pounding as hard and fast as their hearts, evenly matched, they ran with abandon, startling birds and small creatures, laughing in sheer exuberance. When they came to the edge of the trees, they stopped by mutual accord. Breathing hard, they gazed into the shadows, thinking about why they had come, why they were here, filling their souls with beauty at the beginning of the day….

I’m told that constant practice makes for constant improvement, and if this is so, then I should be getting damn close to competence, if not perfection. The paragraphs above are the start of yet another story that will most likely never be told. I write them principally to keep dross from building up in my psyche, and as a sort of contrast to the reality of the rest of the piece. An introductory bridge, as it were, carrying the reader into the realms of thought, where I can then provide you with an upgrade to the DABSDS (Defense Against B___S___ Delivery System) that comes installed in your brain. It gives me a chance to limber up my typing finger, and loosen the mental muscle, which, as we all know, is an essential precursor to the use of these peripherals without sustaining injury.

Today’s group of Pearls is an eclectic one, with a diverse, compelling batch of authors. Cultural values from all over the world, and from many different ages of history are represented here, and I think the variety is part of its strength; it goes to show that wisdom is not limited to one book. Indeed, I believe that the admixture that came together today is greatly enhanced by the contrast of ideas, creating a more powerful effect upon the reasoning mind… hope you enjoy!….

“If I have any beliefs about immortality, it is that certain dogs I have known will go to heaven, and very, very few persons.” — James Thurber

The only real failure in life is the failure to try.

“It is a misconception that spirituality brings everlasting happiness. There is no such thing. Sadness still comes to the wise, but, unlike most
people, their clarity of mind allows them to see beyond the temporal emotionalism of the moment. They are farseeing, and so happiness and sorrow become the same to them.” — Deng Ming-Dao

Down, down, down into the darkness of the grave Gently they go,
the beautiful, the tender, the kind;
Quietly they go, the intelligent, the witty, the brave.
I know.
But I do not approve.
And I am not resigned.

As is my habit, to begin this Pearl, I arise, stumble through my routine morning activities until some clarity settles, then turn to this introduction, as the first creative moments of the day. Generally, I don’t begin until I know the rest of the mess is ready to go; I’ve found this to be the most efficient method for the posting process, as well as providing the impetus, and opportunity, for some kind of imaginative opening. As a rule, though, I sit to begin, whereupon I encounter a huge blank space occupying most of my mind, as it casts about, almost in desperation, seeking inspiration, or, a note from the Muse, at minimum… Most days, I end up tricking myself, and y’all, in the search for quality and clarity….

Today, I have no dearth of material from which to choose; spending two days putting this together, in moments of pertinent capability (i.e, when I could sit long enough), afforded a number of instances pointed sufficiently to provide me with things I can use to open with. Naturally, reality intruded, as soon as I booted up, & drove all that saved material into oblivion. Instead, I’ve been dealing with a failed communication, with concomitant emotional overtones, as well as an uncommonly intrusive cat, to go along with the usual angst that formulates around this process, and the vicissitudes of life at large.

As can be seen by now, I’ve managed to get it all in order, in my head, if not in reality, enough to begin blathering, examining the morning in minute detail, to give me, if nothing else, a bit of space to decide what direction is best to lead into what I’ve prepared for today. I’ll get right to that, as it is patently clear, if I don’t, we’ll never get anywhere, In fact, lets abandon all attempts to disguise what is taking place as either willful, or, rationally intact, & just go for it. Hang on, it requires a sharp turn, here….

Shall we Pearl?….

“As men, we are all equal in the presence of death.”

Today’s music is a bit different than usual. The piece embedded here is the one I want y’all to hear first. I’ll only say, I wept, in joy, as I listened to it. For more music from Duane, use the button on the YT player which allows you to watch it on You Tube, where you will find as much of Duane’s work as you could wish for, much of which is just as fine as this….

When I mentioned to a friend I had wept in joy when listening to this, I was accused of sentimentality, as well as seeking solace in the past… Without knowing the answer, I would guess my friend does NOT play an instrument, for, my weeping was not a sentimental reaction to the song (Amazing Grace), but, rather, sheer unadulterated joy, generated by hearing the ‘music of the spheres’, knowing full well the artist playing the song was deeply immersed in that sphere, allowing the universe to flow through him, thus, essentially, playing in an unconscious state….. while playing, he WAS the music. Having felt that, though never with such force as his talent makes available to him, while jamming along with friends on the guitar, I can attest, nothing in Life brings us closer to the truth of our own existence as connecting to that universal sphere of joy, which hurts as much as it uplifts…..

All that being said, please, let if flow, and, enjoy!….

I have related how I spent a year, or more, in the Hell of withdrawal and cleansing of opioids from my body; this poem came pouring out in the period nearing the end, as I had begun to emerge from the haze of chemical oblivion into reality’s often as harsh, but, cleaner light. I’m rather fond of it, just for that…. Watch the metaphors; they’ll cut ya…

Increments

Meaning fades to distant reality
while gazing at such triviality.
An insane world, where utter finality
is reward for disability.

Metaphorically, as a matter of course.

Moment to moment, passion blooms,
swells, and fades, swept by new brooms.
Bitter dreams catch fire in empty rooms,
waiting for broken time, which never resumes.

Superficially, with great force.

Dire wolves stand snarling at the door
called to existence from a distant moor;
discordant strains sound a mad, sad roar,
a dirge for those who went before.

Morbidly, without vital recourse.

Honest effort fades from human ken
until entropy finds home in every when.
Illusory fear inundates imagination, then
buries hope, in its own ashes, hidden.

Cruelly, absolutely no remorse.

Silence falls until it shatters the night.
The universe has refused the fight.
Illusion is now reality, such a fey sight.
Who has courage to live in the light?

Really? It could be worse.

The universe, in all its majestic indifference, still, will, occasionally, provide us with exactly what we need to accept, and embrace reality’s demands… In today’s instance, I was given some moments of peace and serenity, by being required to provide cuddle time for Leelu, who chose the moment I finished the intro to activate the “Cuddle Clause” in our contract, which we signed the day she arrived…. That clause gives her the right to come to me at any random moment, whereupon I am to modify my structure to that of a ‘cat hammock’, & hold her, pet her, & strengthen the bond we share for enough time for both of us to arrive at a peaceful inner state…. Today, that took about 25 minutes, making me late, and unconcerned to be so….

For today’s Pearl, it just means it gets posted a bit late. So be it. It’s done, & so am I, for the day. While it is still cool out in the BBR, I’m going for a long walk, maybe even a ferry ride… who knows? It’s a wide world, & I am still part of it…. Tell you what…. Let’s all go out in the BBR today, & see what there is to see…. See ya, as soon as the mud settles, & all becomes clear… Maybe that will be tomorrow; then, again, maybe not…. Be sure, I shall return, if only to dump more angst into the well of humanity’s regard, where it can join all the other stuff nobody really cares much about, but for those who place it there…. Hmm… a bit esoteric for a closer, but, ’twill have to do…. Ta, then….

Hajime…. I have managed to put together a Pearl for today; what I didn’t manage is to find any particularly creative energy within myself to write anything more complicated than a short intro paragraph for the music. The rest is, as they say so often in Silicon Valley, what you get. Suffused, as I am, with the angst so carefully built up over the past few days of watching the US government shake itself to pieces, I find it difficult to find the words to express the degree of horror implied by the massive display of duplicity, ignorance, bigotry, and, well, stupidity we have witnessed, as the Trumpette goes about his business, feeding into the ignorance of his ‘fans’, and rewarding all the assholes who helped him get into this mess….

Any further comments on that would easily fall into ranting mode; I’ll cease and desist now, rather than try to regain control later. The few words I’ve already written today came close enough to cover that, and will sit more comfortably in the psyche of the Gentle Reader if not augmented by further displays of angst. Besides, I’m really NOT in the mood to rant; I feel too good to let it wreck what’s left of the day. Instead, I’m going to go all executive, and cut this off while still in its prime, in favor of just getting on with what I’ve got. For y’all, that’s probably a bonus; it certainly makes my job easier, so, we’ll go with it, and let the chips fall where they may…. That, by the way, looks like this….

I’ve decided to use the music from various artists in this organization as our default, at least for the time being. Since I’m not spending a lot of time at the computer, it will save some of it for actually creating Pearls, which is already hard enough without the extra time. Here is one that I feel is, or should be, the single most important piece of music I know, for it shows humanity where our true salvation lies, to wit: within our own nature, and not in chasing after an illusory supernatural being who loves us, which has no evidence to support it. “It is in the shelter of each other people live.” Here’s one of the building blocks of that shelter….

Patterns exist to bring sanity, if illusory, at best;
follicular, reality seems to slip and slide.
Still, formal insanity consistently fails the ultimate test,
why place faith in answers. from which truth can hide?

Following the music brings us back in good time;
forever seemingly retreats from relevance.
Crazy, time stands still with yet another innovative rhyme,
no burgeoning intentions for sale, to shimmy. or dance.

Folly sits easily upon this brow;
fateful and afraid, entropy bows in shame.
Into the river of time, slowly, forgetful of how
courage gives strength, no matter the game.

Capricious, the muse demands obedient attention
at risk of exhibiting true durance vile.
Bereft, single copies sit unused, despite all intention;
while singular examples of fate pass at the stile.

Seminal events bring their own weight;
no scale necessary, no guessing by eye, or hand.
Only one lesson to learn, just pay the freight;
the music is playing, and you’re part of the band.

Dont keep calm

First posted online, via Triond, in June of 2012:

Shouting into the Wind

Exploring extinction from a non-rhetorical view….

“We shall never understand the natural environment until we see it as a living organism. Land can be healthy or sick, fertile or barren, rich or poor, lovingly nurtured or bled white. Our present attitudes and laws governing the ownership and use of land represent an abuse of the concept of private property…. Today you can murder land for private profit. You can leave the corpse for all to see and nobody calls the cops.” — Paul Brooks, The Pursuit of Wilderness (1971)

This statement is now over 50 years old, according to the attribution. From what I can see in the real world, it remains as true today as it was when uttered. We are killing our planet, or rather, we are killing ourselves, and making the planet suffer in the process. No matter how God-like we believe our powers to be, I don’t believe we can quite destroy a whole planet. But, we can sure make it a tough place to survive, and we are doing that rapidly….

Why are we doing this to ourselves? I’m not the only citizen who is asking this question; there are actually millions of people like me who are aware of how bad things have gotten, and I’ve seen a lot of printed material on the subject. The problem is that nobody with any power to make changes to society at large is at all concerned with the problem, because A) They tend to deny it, as it doesn’t match their delusional view of reality, and B) They don’t care…..

The first reason, denial, is rooted in the avarice and selfishness of those who seek political and/or religious power. Their purpose in life is to “get” as much as they can, gathering resources, money, and power over others to their bosoms like a mother cradles her babe. This purpose keeps them focused on their own goals, and denial is the simplest way to deal with any ideas that are contrary to those goals. There is a popular saying these days, that I’ve heard many, many times, most often with a smile and a wink, to show that the person wants us to believe they are kidding, when they really are not…. that saying goes, “He who dies with the most toys, wins….”  That’s America, all over….

The second reason, indifference, was taught to these folks by the Christian religion. That’s right, religion is responsible, fully and completely, for most of what is wrong in today’s society. This statement will no doubt cause some consternation among those believers who are still buying into that shell game, but it is nonetheless true. It is difficult to build a rational institution when one’s beliefs are based on a basic untruth. More simply, false conclusions are the only possible result of beginning with a false assumption….

“The common dogma [of fundamentalists] is fear of modern knowledge, inability to cope with the fast change in a scientific-technological society, and the real breakdown in apparent moral order in recent years That is why hate is the major fuel, fear is the cement of the movement, and superstitious ignorance is the best defence against the dangerous new knowledge. When you bring up arguments that cast serious doubts on their cherished beliefs you are not simply making a rhetorical point, you are threatening their whole Universe and their immortality. That provokes anger and quite frequently violence.” — G. Gaia

What, you ask, is this false assumption? Well, I hate to be the one to break it to them, but hey, Mankind is NOT the top of the food chain. Mankind is NOT superior to the other animals, and plants, that live here with us. Mankind is NOT the “owner”, or the “steward”, or the “ruler” of this world. We are not the “Lords of Creation”, nor do we either deserve or actually possess the entitlement so many of our beloved ruling class feels, or claims.  We are nothing more than a fortunate (for us) accident of Nature, no less than any other creature, but no more, for certain….

Here the free spirit of mankind, at length,
Throws its last fetters off; and who shall place
A limit to the giant’s unchained strength,
Or curb his swiftness in the forward race?

~~ William Cullen Bryant (1794-1878) — The Ages, xxxiii ~~

It is unfortunate in the extreme that so many people believe this prideful boast! Being able to reason hasn’t improved our morality. Being able to imagine has not increased our empathy, or our compassion, though it should. As a species, looked at from an outside viewpoint, we are much less efficient as an animal than are almost any of the other animals we know of; dogs and cats are far superior morally, ethically, and operationally than are humans; I would add they are more intelligent as well, but the humans out there won’t believe that, even though it is obvious to me. I mean, who is feeding who here? Although still subject to the cruelty to which humans so often resort, dogs and cats control their humans pretty well, as a rule…..

“Dogs are animals that poop in public and you’re supposed to pick it up.  After a week of doing this, you’ve got to ask yourself: Who’s the real master in this relationship?” — Anthony Griffin

All this goes back to the same old message that I’ve been sending out for years. If this species, Australopithecus modernus, does not make a change in it’s mental viewpoint, in our morality and how that makes us deal with the world, we’ll all be dead within 200 years. The planet will recover; all the poisons we’ve pumped into the environment will be neutralized, and the damage we’ve done will heal over time. But, we will be gone, if we don’t figure out how to change the whole way we deal with reality, from the top of society down…. I hate to be a cynic, but I don’t see it happening, and that is just sad…..

“Time destroys the speculations of man, but it confirms the judgment of nature.” — Cicero (B.C. 106-43)

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Comedy_Tragedy
Unheralded Sagacity…
To many, who will not see beyond their nose
the world becomes a dangerous place,
a bullet in every gun, a thorn with every rose,
no magic comes to save us, reality leaves no trace.
Minds closed, wrapped tight in manufactured fears,
men become clay, easily molded into complacent form.
No chains needed, held in thrall for years,
lies become gospel, when dishonesty is the norm.
Shed the chains you wear in durance, in kind;
Oh, ye of little faith, and much doubt
Strength is found in an unfettered mind,
Cry “freedom” with a great shout.
No help from any gods can hinder so much
as our own lack of confidence;
finding the light within, knowing it as such
confirms us, becoming consequence.
Illumination…..
Music Passion
Ffolkes,
Today I’m trying to fulfill a request from adollyiciousirony at All About Lemon, who asked me to join her and other bloggers in her new blogging game, Music Passion…. so, below this are links to my music passion(s) from the 50’s, the artists that I listened to then, and whose music influenced my tastes the most…. I couldn’t choose only one, so I picked two. They are Little Miss Dynamite, Brenda Lee, and the undisputed godfather of rock and roll, Buddy Holly… here are links to their music…
Brenda Lee’s best hits; this is sung by Brenda many years after she made these songs famous, as a 11 year old phenomenon, singing her signature song “Dynamite” in 1957 on TV….
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=riSL_r1iCfg&feature=related
and Buddy Holly’s “Maybe Baby” from 1957, just one of many hits of his that were all over the radio airwaves “back in the day”…..
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fEHNFxXkILM
Hopefully, right below here, you will see the Music Passion logo…
dancing in music smiley
Okay, so I am also to provide a link to the original home page for the Music Passion Page, and that is here:
http://allaboutlemon.com/music-passion/
Thanks very much to Dolly at All About Lemon for persuading me to give this technological lesson a try… I don’t know if it will work, but I’ve learned a bit about how the WP editor works, so it’s all good… it was fun finding the music too, and now, if this works, I’ll be able to continue to the next decade and onward.. so… Yay!
I hope for two things…. First, that the logo and the links come through okay… second, that the logo displays as it should.  And if not, well, the music you’ll find by following the links should make it all okay…. Enjoy!
