Remnants of hauntingly bad melodies….

This one almost got skipped. My comp remains in the shop, for at least a few more days. To be honest, this process just sucks on a phone, & I don’t know how people do it consistently. But, it’s done for another day. I hope you enjoy today’s offering from the archives. I’ll try to post tomorrow, but, then again, perhaps not… That mouthy bastard , Time, will tell, as he always does…. Be well, & stay strange…

Ffolkes,

I believe I’m suffering a universal page fault in my brain…. I’m not entirely sure exactly what that is, but, I know when I see it on my computer screen, it’s a bad thing, and that’s what we have here, for sure and for certain….. a bad thing. Not unusual, not surprising, but bad…. Still, my heart beats in my chest, and my breath continues to go in and out of my lungs, so, I suppose I’d best get on with this….

I’m burnt…. baked, fried, sautĆ©ed, grilled, whichever method you choose, I’m way overdone….. I know it. The symptoms have been obvious for days now, but, I’ve been unwilling to admit it, or them, because I don’t know what I’ll do if I can’t write…. Talk about diffuse anxiety! This is more of a specific anxiety, actually, one that strikes every time I suffer one of these burn-out…

Here’s yet another offering from the archives to sublimate, while I continue to twiddle thumbs… Y’all be well; & happy as you may; I’ll be back as soon as my computer is repaired… Stay strange, folks; it’s your best defense these days. …

Man, I certainly hope so! If not, what the hell am I doing here? I’m sure as hell not spewing out my guts every day just so people will like me; it’s nice when they do, and helps me appreciate the good that remains in this sad old world, but I’m too old to spend any more effort worrying about how what I say when I write might upset somebody’s applecart. I write to get the stuff in my head out where I can look at it objectively, or at least editorially, and where I can make a rational decision as to whether or not it needs to be eased out, gently and persuasively, or spit out, decisively and vehemently.

I try not to spew too widely, to actually aim what I’m throwing, so that individuals…

You think you have problems! Murphy lives with me!…. Actually, it only seems that way. I found the foregoing in Smart Bee this morning, as I cast about for something to start with, and since it fits so well with many of my previous introductory sections, I threw it out there for consumption. In reality, Murphy is apparently off somewhere, undoubtedly plotting something nasty for me… It’s the only explanation for ignoring me, apparently, for several days. Whenever I’ve had periods like that in the past, he was working on some complicated, and difficult problem to drop in my lap, preferably at a moment when I am least prepared to deal with it, as is his habit and preference….

I often forget that everyone else in the world is as familiar with him as I am; it’s a purely human reaction to do so, though, so I don’t feel…

Ā Ā Ā  Pretty little house & garden, eh? I thought so, which is why I took the picture; the colors, shapes, and overall effect have a balance that gives it a homey, lived in, comfortable appearance that appeals to me…. I guess, at heart, I’m just a traditional, romantic bozo, with a belief in home, and family. In my life, perhaps the only regret I have is not finding someone who felt strongly enough the same way to join me in making that happen….. I was able to give my children a home for the greater portion of their formative years, but, was not able to make it last…

Hajime…. I am up, but, thus far, without coffee, so, I wouldn’t expect a lot of sense right now, of ANY nature other than weird, or, confused. But, then, seldom do we ever approach even a tangential orbit to common sense at all, so, I don’t see how it will make any difference, in the final analysis. That, of course, is IF we can find anyone who’ll come here to make any such analysis; anyone who WOULD do it probably can’t be trusted to be either fair, or, competent to any real degree…. So, what the hell, we’ll wing it….

As if it wasn’t already obvious we’re doing so, no doubt, as a standard policy. That, frankly, would be untrue, and…

Ffolkes,

The past two days have been what might be termed, ‘filled with lessons’; not anyone’s favorite pastime, I’m sure, but, nonetheless instructive, if not overly pleasant…. Rather than detail the hours in a veiled effort to excuse my lack of productivity, I will merely say, I didn’t get a Pearl even close to done, & leave it there. To keep y’all entertained today, I’ve re-blogged this Pearl from the early days here on ECR, before evolving into what is usually seen today. It’s got some decent discussions to enjoy, & one of my more honest, if strange, poems…. It will do for our purposes here today…. I shall return, tomorrow, if all goes well, with a fresh Pearl… well, as fresh as I can make it, anyway.

Y’all have a good one, if that’s in your power; if not, well, we get another chance at it tomorrow… Be well, be happy, & be strange; it’s still the best way to keep your balance….

Sincerity has never been more welcome…..

Ffolkes,

SIGH…. As noted in yesterday’s closing section, I went for a long walk. Somewhere along the way, I strained my back, & have spent the time since getting home trying to deal with some pretty severe pain. This, naturally, kept me from completing a Pearl for today. As sublimation, here is one from 2013 that is pretty decent, but, didn’t get much traffic; we’ll give it another chance to shine today… In the meantime, I’ll be dealing with dealing with life in pain, again. Easy money, really; I’m pretty familiar with this routine. Given my improved health, it also shouldn’t last too long; knowing how to handle it without worsening the issue also helps. Until I can get another fresh Pearl done, I hope you enjoy today’s post, and, whatever is happening in your neck of the woods… Be well, be happy, be strange, & it’ll all work out fine… See y’all soon, I hope….

I’ve never experienced this before…. Even MY coffee, which has been known to raise the long-time-dead, in a heartbeat, isn’t doing the trick this morning…. I grind French Roast beans, dark and savory, then put twice as much in the drip basket as is recommended, just for starters… then I add a teaspoon or two more, just to make it right…. I promise you, no coffee in the world, including espresso, is stronger, or has more of the life-giving caffeine than does what I make right here at home… It’s part of why I have such a hard time when traveling, as nobody can duplicate it in public, not without destroying their profit margin….

But, today, it ain’t happenin’…. I mean, I made it like usual, and in good time, too, before I tried to type. But, even now, after a good half-cup, I’m still dragging my ass, wondering…

Ffolkes,

Still couldn’t sit much for much of yesterday, so, no freshly made Pearl today. I did find this one, which was written during my sojourn to Hell, on a night spent battling my own brain chemistry… For what it is, it’s damn good; for what it represents, in terms of what it cost to create, it’s way more than that…. Just read it, you’ll see. In the meantime, I’m hoping to see some change today; it’s always there, I suppose, but, some indications of heading in a positive direction would be good….Y’all have a good one, & if you’re in northern California today, stay close to your A/C, as the whole damn state is spending some time in the nether regions….

Be happy, be safe, be as weird as possible. It all helps, trust me….

From the London Daily Telegraph Animal Pictures of the Week 12/28/2014

The quote adorning the first line, above the most excellent picture, is a familiar idea around here; that may be why, whenever I come across it, I am also reminded of another fine statement, to which I also strongly subscribe, to wit:

ā€œThere comes a time in every man’s life when it becomes necessary to just roll up his sleeves, spit on his hands, hoist the black flag, and start slitting throats.ā€ — H. L. Mencken

Just gets me, right here (*somber expression, with hand over heart*), every time…. The picture you see, by the way, was NOT posed, reportedly…. An average guy was taking pictures in the forest back of his home (in France? I…

Ffolkes,

Sitting, at all, remains problematic this morning; that is complicated further by how inconsistent my keyboard is acting thus far. The space bar seems to be sticking, & it may be time for a thorough wipe-down & testing. At any rate, it’s all a wash today, as I am not able to sit long enough to do anything but post this old Pearl. It was written at a time when I was in Hell, but, had not yet realized it. All in all, it’s not too bad, considering the relative condition of my mind during that period, which, in retrospect, I can describe as less than optimum. Nonetheless, it’s here, and it’s good enough for our purpose. I’ll be back soon, I hope; in any case, I’ll be back. Y’all be well, stay cool, and stay alert….

Ffolkes,

Though I am unsure as to causation, my body seems to be in revolt today. A number of rather intrusive pains surfaced as I arose, all of which have convinced me of the futility of attempting to compose a Pearl for today, as I can barely sit, at all, & trying to type this is turning into an all-too-familiar ordeal. I’m gonna deal with this, as best I can in the sweltering heat here, probably with a lot of water therapy (immersing in it seems to help the most).

All that said, to little point, if not purpose, I’ll leave you with two things: one, this fine Pearl from 2015, and my wishes for you to have a decent day, which, as most of y’all have noted, is about the best we can hope for these days…. On that snarky note, go now, and be as radical as you can; believe me, it will help….
